The short version: Zpend does not collect, transmit, or store any of your data on our servers. Your expenses live entirely on your iPhone — or in your own personal iCloud account if you choose to enable backup. We never see your data. No one does, except you.
Zpend does not collect any personal information or usage data — at all. This includes:
Everything you enter into Zpend — every expense, category, and budget — is stored in one of two places, both fully under your control:
Zpend has no servers. There is no Zpend database, no Zpend cloud, and no Zpend backend that receives or stores your information.
Zpend requires no sign-up, no login, and no account of any kind. You open the app and start tracking immediately. We have no way to identify who you are, and we have no interest in doing so.
Zpend requests access to your iPhone's microphone solely to enable the optional voice expense logging feature. The microphone is only active when you explicitly tap the voice input button — it is never listening in the background.
Your speech is processed entirely by Apple's on-device Speech Recognition framework. Audio is never recorded, stored, or transmitted to Zpend or any third-party server. It is processed locally on your iPhone and discarded immediately after the text is recognized.
If you choose to enable iCloud Backup, your data is stored in your personal Apple iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit framework. This data is held entirely within your own Apple account — Zpend has no access to it. Data stored in iCloud is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
Zpend contains no third-party analytics SDKs, advertising libraries, or tracking tools. The only external framework used is Apple's native Speech framework for on-device voice recognition, which operates entirely on your device.
To delete all your data, simply delete the Zpend app from your iPhone. iOS will permanently remove all locally stored data. If you enabled iCloud Backup, you can remove the Zpend data from your iCloud storage via iPhone Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Storage.
Zpend does not collect data from anyone, including children under 13. There is no data collection mechanism in the app at all.
If we ever change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Our commitment to collecting no data will not change.
